This occupation is found in organisations of all sizes across the private, public, and third sectors, including finance, construction, automotive, manufacturing, health, retail, hospitality, and IT. Multi-channel marketers work either within an agency providing marketing services to clients or as part of an in-house team driving business growth. The role is typically office-based or remote, with some travel for events, client meetings, and market research.
The core purpose of this role is to support customer-focused marketing activities that generate demand and enhance brand perception. With the rise of the green economy, marketers may also focus on promoting environmentally sustainable products and services.
As part of a marketing team, multi-channel marketers implement strategies and execute campaigns across various platforms. They handle content creation, market research, campaign analytics, data collection, and marketing administration. They also coordinate with internal teams, such as sales, PR, IT, HR, finance, and external stakeholders, including clients, agencies, printers, and market research firms.
Multi-channel marketers define, design, and execute campaigns to drive customer engagement and retention. They contribute to the marketing strategy and take responsibility for elements of the overall plan. Acting as the first point of contact for day-to-day activities, they work independently and within teams, managing budgets and resources. While they report to senior stakeholders, they may make decisions on smaller campaign elements and influence broader marketing strategies.
Professional Recognition: This apprenticeship aligns with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI) for Power and the Data and Marketing Association (DMA). Please contact the professional body for more details.
Timeline: The Multi-Channel Marketer Apprenticeship will typically take 18 months to complete with the end point assessment undertaken in the final 5 months of the apprenticeship.

Assessment methods
01
Project Report with Presentation and Questioning
A project involves the apprentice completing a significant and defined piece of work that has a real business application and benefit. The project must meet the needs of the employer’s business and be relevant to the apprentice’s occupation and apprenticeship. The research and written project report must start after the apprentice has gone through the gateway.
This assessment method has 2 components:
-
Project with a project output
-
Presentation with questions and answers
02
Interview Underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence
In the interview, an independent assessor asks the apprentice questions. It gives the apprentice the opportunity to demonstrate the KSBs mapped to this assessment method.
The apprentice can refer to and illustrate their answers with evidence from their portfolio of evidence

Gateway
What does Gateway mean?
Gateway is a crucial stage that marks the transition from the on-program learning phase of an apprenticeship to the final assessment phase. It is the point where both the employer and the training provider agree that the apprentice has acquired the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) outlined in their apprenticeship standard and is ready to undertake the EPA. The Gateway is essentially a readiness check, ensuring that the apprentice is prepared and has met all the prerequisites, such as achieving required qualifications, completing mandatory training, and demonstrating competency in their role. This step is vital for setting up the apprentice for success in their final assessments.
To be all set for the EPA, Multi-Channel Marketer apprentices need to meet these requirements:
-
Achieved English and maths qualifications in line with the apprenticeship funding rules
-
For the project report with presentation and questioning the apprentice must submit a Project scoping document
The apprentice must agree the subject, title and scope for their project with their employer and EPAO by submitting a scoping document which will be no more than 500 words. This will not be assessed by the independent assessor.
-
For the interview underpinned by portfolio of evidence the apprentice must submit Portfolio of evidence
